Cassette Tape Collection: Strawberry Switchblade

This is not the first time I have mentioned " Strawberry Switchblade " on this blog , as well featuring their music videos. But they remain a huge part of my memory impressions of the 80s, with music genre veering towards synth-imaginary limbo-dreams of Scritti Politti, Dream Academy et al - and an opposition to the explosions of Depeche Mode et al. And who can't love the name " Strawberry Switchblade "? LOL WHO-IS: "Strawberry Switchblade was a female pop rock band formed in Scotland in 1981 by Jill Bryson and Rose McDowall, best known for their song "Since Yesterday" in 1985." [ Wiki ] And as well their choice of performance-wear and identity was the single most unique of that era, imbedded in my memory, which as well first introduced the concept of Lolita-wear over 2 decades ago - which now still remains as strong within the cosplay-culture, I reckon. Cassette Tape Collection: The Art of Falling Apart from Soft Cell

WHAT-IS: "The Art of Falling Apart is the second full-length album released in 1983 by Soft Cell, a pioneering synthpop/new wave duo which featured Marc Almond singing and David Ball playing synthesizers. The album reached #5 on the UK charts upon release, although its two singles "Where the Heart Is" and "Numbers" both failed to reach the Top 20, breaking the duo's run of five consecutive Top 5 singles in the UK." [ Wiki ] While the world may remember Soft Cell for their "Tainted Love" track (how many of you know the title of their first album this track came from?), their second album release seems largely ignored by the generic public (save for fans of the electro-duo, of course). Produced by Soft Cell and Mike Thorne - the song selection is this album seemed less intense and "sexual" versus their first release, and is in fact more radio-friendly than I had ever expected from them, without missing the torch-song emo-ness - now...

This is a promotional video for Wee Li Lin's upcoming fictional short film "Centrepoint Kidz" www.facebook.com/centrepointkidz" ( 27 Mar 2015 ) I was a failed Centrepoint Kid. I couldn't really make it in the fashion nor attitude department. Sure we hung around the top 5th floor of Centerpoint the shopping complex (aren't really used to nor know of the word "mall"), stared down at girls on the top 5th floor, everyone of whom looked pretty "cute" at such a distance … and sure some of us will adopt the well known local equivalent of a mating call of the urban jungle: " choot " or whistle at the girls to catch their attention … then all 5 or 7 of us would split up into different groups or individuals and stand at different ares apart ...
